Mumbai, June 29, 2024 — Bollywood legendAmitabh Bachchanhas expanded his real estate portfolio by acquiring two luxury apartments in Mumbai’s Borivali area for a total of ₹6.78 crore. The apartments are located in the prestigious Oberoi Sky City project by Oberoi Realty, as per documents accessed by Zapkey.com.
The purchase comes shortly after his son, Abhishek Bachchan, made headlines for acquiring six apartments on the same floor for ₹15.42 crore. Abhishek’s transaction was registered on May 28, 2024, involving six units measuring 4,894 sq ft of RERA carpet area. The following day, on May 29, 2024, Amitabh Bachchan registered his purchase of two units, each measuring 1,094 sq ft of RERA carpet area, priced at ₹3.39 crore each.
Oberoi Sky City stands out as one of the costliest luxury residential buildings in Borivali, with property prices ranging from ₹31,000 to ₹37,000 per sq ft, according to local brokers. It is strategically located on the Western Express Highway (WEH) near a Mumbai Metro station, offering excellent connectivity.
In comparison, the most expensive residential building in the Borivali area is Aquaria Grande, developed by the Wadhwa Group, where units are sold for approximately ₹40,000 to ₹45,000 per sq ft.
Amitabh Bachchan has been notably active in the real estate market, investing over ₹100 crore in the past year alone. His acquisitions span across Mumbai, Alibaug, and Ayodhya. Notable investments include:
- Seven office spaces totaling 16,825 sq ft, purchased for nearly ₹90 crore.
- A plot in "The Sarayu," a development project by The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) in Ayodhya near the Ram Temple, valued at over ₹14 crore.
- A 10,000 sq ft land parcel in Alibaug, acquired for ₹10 crore in April 2024.
Despite inquiries, Oberoi Realty has not commented on the recent transactions, and Amitabh Bachchan was unavailable for remarks.
