The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), India’s wealthiest civic body, presented its budget for the financial year 2025-26 on February 5, 2025. The budget, amounting to ₹74,427.41 crore, marks a 14% increase from the revised estimate of ₹65,180.79 crore in 2024-25.

The budget document highlighted the need to restructure financial resources and explore new revenue avenues. With Mumbai’s rapid development, ensuring financial sustainability without hampering city growth remains a top priority.
BMC is also developing a centralized property information system to digitize records, integrate with GIS systems, and facilitate real-time asset management. Additionally, municipal plots will be utilized under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to maximize revenue generation.
