Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of Team India, has lodged a criminal complaint against his ex-business associates from Aarka Sports and Management Limited, accusing Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas of defrauding him of over ₹15 crore by breaching a contract from a 2017 business deal. The complaint has been formally filed in a Ranchi court.
According to the complaint, Mihir Diwakar entered into an agreement with Mr. Dhoni in 2017 for the establishment of cricket academies bearing the cricketer's name, both in India and internationally. However, the complaint alleges that Diwakar failed to adhere to the stipulated conditions outlined in the agreement.
As per the complaint, Aarka Sports was obligated to pay the franchise fee and distribute profits according to the specified ratio in the agreement. However, it alleges that all the terms and conditions were breached. The partners allegedly initiated the establishment of academies without informing Mr. Dhoni and failed to make the required payments. Furthermore, the authority letter granted to them was revoked on August 15, 2021.
Despite the revocation of the authority letter, they persisted in establishing cricket academies and sports complexes in Dhoni's name without disclosing any details or sharing proceeds with him, as per his lawyer Dayanand Singh. Dhoni, through his legal representation, asserts that the firm breached the agreement terms, leading to a loss of more than ₹15 crore for him.
